3 CampaignThemes #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. I need to discuss my overall objectives for this mayoral campaign. There are only 3.

1. Write My Name: I hope what you experience with me convinces you to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. Whether you write Kara Lynn Sanders, Kara Sanders, Kai Sanders or Momma Kai it will get counted. Thank you in advance for your vote.

2. I'm Leading as a Mom, a Matriarch and a Mayor with Compassion and Neuroscience: To keep this short, I do a pretty decent job explaining this in the YouTube video I recorded about it. As an executive summary, I'm going to say it's about recognizing the genuine needs of the people, acknowledging those needs then doing your best to meet those needs (versus ignoring them or addressing needs you made up for them). End of story.

3. Moving to Peace from War in 2024: I gotta be honest. Once I submitted my papers and realized I would be using my own funds to get my name out. I went digging in my storage unit for stuff I had printed out recently. While I was looking, I found these cards that I had printed at the beginning of the year for a course I wanted to launch. That was divine.

With all that has happened in the last year, this is the final theme I am promoting. Moving is a word that means the action is in motion, not past, not future, but constant. So peace is not something we arrive at. It's something we keep moving towards.

With all the people who are hurting and discouraged and... and... and... I know I have the capacity to listen and Love on them to make sure their needs are met as best as they can be with whatever our community has to offer.

Now... Some of those things still need to be built, created, developed, invested in. But because I have vision, I know I am capable of leading us there.

One of my favorite quotes says, "God does not begin by asking us about our ability, but only about our availability, and if we then prove our dependability, he will increase our capability." It's by Neal A. Maxwell. I wasn't able to years ago, but I've made myself available and shown that I'm dependable. If someone thinks it's not here now, I will be capable. Thank you for trusting me to rise!

I hope what you read, see or hear will compel you to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. Thank you again and in advance. Enjoy the amazing day you’re creating. Peace…

My Why #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. This is the most important post I will write.  And I can't believe I haven't written about my why yet. I know I've recorded a video that mentions it but I didn't write about it. And this is too important for me not to do that. First of all, to be crystal clear, I hate politics. I don't even like using the word "hate". But my feelings against politics is so deep that I don't have an alternative word to use that describes how I feel. I'm not sure if even loathe or despise would give it justice. So I'm sure you're super extra curious about why I'm running if that's the case. Well... first, I'll tell you the greatest lesson I've learned about government. It is that the challenges our community is facing now is based on the decisions made by those who were in power 8, 10, 12 or more years ago. I want to thank District E Councilwo...

One Wake Candidates' Forum #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. The night I registered as a write-in candidate for mayor I went to my first candidates' forum. And I want to talk about what happened. It was hosted by an organization called One Wake and they had a goal to get 1000 people there. I was so excited because One Wake is an organization of churches and I was sure I was going to find my people even though I don't even go to church.  The reason why is I have a business idea that connects churches under one organization to focus on the most pressing issues of our time. It is based on a book called "Step One: The Gospel and the Ghetto". Even though I didn't let them know I was coming, I anticipated being on that stage to introduce myself. And I did! In fact, here's the recording . And here's an excerpt from an article about it. Yup! My announcement made it into Indy Week.  I have to be totally honest with you. I wa...
