Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here.
I'm so excited by this post. I have a playlist on YouTube that gives an expanded explanation for each of the 10 reasons to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. So this is the "Reader's Digest" version (for those who are old enough to remember what that means).
Here's the introduction listing them all 10 reasons with brief explanations, similar to what's listed here.
Here is the list with the link to each video.
1. I'm every woman - I have more in common with the entire population of the city than any other candidate.
2. I'm actually in and engaged with the entire community, not just a portion of it - Wisdom and I have been everywhere and have met all kinds of people in all areas of the city.3. I'm not a politician, I'm a mom - I realized that the leaders who are elected this year will set the stage for how the world will operate once my young Black male superhero is an adult so I'm running for him and the future generation he represents, not to advance anyone else's personal agenda, especially when it's for their personal profit and not the entire community.
4. People don't like me and/or my son. I'm ok with that.
5. I'm not the smartest and I don't have to be.
6. I’m a systems thinker - I'm not ok with the current political system or the vile way some people desecrate what should be a sacred and humbling privilege, responsibility, opportunity and duty. I want that to change. I'm able to initiate that change.
7. I’m leading with compassion and neuroscience - The common denominator of both words is that there's a need to be met.
8. My young Black male superhero and I live in our car - People like us rarely have a seat at the table, let alone are able to lead the conversations.
9. We have the most City of Raleigh swag (Heeheehee...) - That's right. We have the toilet squishy from the Water Dept. I bet none of the other candidates can top that one (wink, wink, smile)! Seriously though, I mention that because we're at events. We go places where staff are and engage with them and/or learn from them.
10. Raleigh has never had a black female mayor - Need I say more? I'll only add, "Representation Matters". The End!
Please check out the videos for details or go straight to the next post to find out where I stand on a number of issues affecting our city.
I hope what you see, read and/or hear will compel you to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. Thank you again and in advance. Enjoy the amazing day you’re creating. Peace…
