My Why #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. This is the most important post I will write.  And I can't believe I haven't written about my why yet. I know I've recorded a video that mentions it but I didn't write about it. And this is too important for me not to do that. First of all, to be crystal clear, I hate politics. I don't even like using the word "hate". But my feelings against politics is so deep that I don't have an alternative word to use that describes how I feel. I'm not sure if even loathe or despise would give it justice. So I'm sure you're super extra curious about why I'm running if that's the case. Well... first, I'll tell you the greatest lesson I've learned about government. It is that the challenges our community is facing now is based on the decisions made by those who were in power 8, 10, 12 or more years ago. I want to thank District E Councilwo...

One Wake Candidates' Forum #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. The night I registered as a write-in candidate for mayor I went to my first candidates' forum. And I want to talk about what happened. It was hosted by an organization called One Wake and they had a goal to get 1000 people there. I was so excited because One Wake is an organization of churches and I was sure I was going to find my people even though I don't even go to church.  The reason why is I have a business idea that connects churches under one organization to focus on the most pressing issues of our time. It is based on a book called "Step One: The Gospel and the Ghetto". Even though I didn't let them know I was coming, I anticipated being on that stage to introduce myself. And I did! In fact, here's the recording . And here's an excerpt from an article about it. Yup! My announcement made it into Indy Week.  I have to be totally honest with you. I wa...

PowerUp NC Candidates' Forum #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It’s another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. These questions are from one of the two candidates forums I participated in.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to answer these questions at length. I took the liberty to answer all the questions posed that night and include links or other resources. Please consider increasing the playback speed and turning on the captions so you can get the best viewing experience when the content is long. I hope what you hear will compel you to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. Thank you again and in advance. Enjoy the amazing day you’re creating. Peace… #WriteMyName #MommaKaiforMayor #RaleighNeedsaMatriarch #KaraLynnSanders #MommaKai #CompassionandNeuroscience #ToPeaceFromWar Intro to videos: https://youtu.be/4sfidEStwWI Question 1: Major storms like Hurricane Helene have significantly impacted communities in North Carolina and in neighboring states. Visions of the Future - Little Bit of Everything Else #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. I want you to know I have thoughts on just about everything. So let's explore what's going on in my mind. Here I give a tagline, brief bullet points and/or a summary on some of the thoughts I've had about... well everything I've had some experience with. We have been a little bit of everywhere and have talked to more than a few people about things. So I've got a position I'm going to speak on. I'm grateful I am writing now, because I had the opportunity to engage with several members of our Transportation Department at an event on Wednesday the 30th. They gave me answers to questions I was pretty triggered by. This covers more than transportation. I mention that to say, our city workers are pretty accessible. We can get the answers we need to questions we have. I'm grateful I know that. Let's go: Employees/Human Resources: We want our city employees...

Visions of the Future - Council, Families #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here. Because of the 10 reasons I listed in another post, these visions of what Raleigh could be prevail in my mind. This section of visions has to do with the team of people I want on Council with me, followed by what I would do differently with council. The playlist continues when it gets specific about one of the communities I would focus on: families which includes parents and children of all ages.  I'm going to keep this short because there are videos to all of them. Here is the Visions of the Future - Playlist . Here are the links to each individual video: My Dream Team - I feel like this group of 8 people would provide healthy discussion on all kinds of issues and provide 5 votes when we need to get things done. City Council - This video features some of the changes I would make Our Babies - As a parent coach, it's important to me to make sure the littlest of the littles gr...

10 Reasons to Vote For Me #WriteMyNameMommaKai

Welcome and welcome back. It's another amazing day in paradise. Thank you so much for being here.  I'm so excited by this post. I have a playlist on YouTube that gives an expanded explanation for each of the 10 reasons to write my name as your preferred candidate for the next mayor of Raleigh. So this is the "Reader's Digest" version (for those who are old enough to remember what that means).  Here's the introduction listing them all 10 reasons with brief explanations, similar to what's listed here.  Here is the list with the link to each video. 1. I'm every woman -  I have more in common with the entire population of the city than any other candidate. 2. I'm actually in and engaged with the entire community, not just a portion of it - Wisdom and I have been everywhere and have met all kinds of people in all areas of the city.  3. I'm not a politician, I'm a mom - I realized that the leaders who are elected this year will set the stage...
